Off of highway 503, on the Pueblo road to the Nambe Falls
Another rural speed trap to discourage tourists from coming back to New Mexico. The two lane pueblo road out to Nambe Falls off of 503 has the speed limit set to 45 when you first start out. Then it drops to 35. Then it drops to 25. Only one minor problem: there are *way more* houses in the 35 zone than in the 25 zone. There are something like 3 houses at the beginning of the 25 zone, which then continues on into a deserted section with *nothing* next to for what seems like miles until it returns to 35. I didn’t get caught in this one, but I saw a tourist getting pulled over and winced. You know they’re just milking this one too. I was so offended by this speed trap that I (a pretty regualar in-state tourist who’s driven the high road to Taos many times) vowed never to come back.
