Decatur, Alabama Speed Traps
It appears they are there catching all of the people coming from Hartselle who may be speeding while coming into Decatur. There are normally parking in the dividing median or in vacant lots along the roadway. Decatur’s most notorious ticket superhero is a policeman who has attained the nickname “TicketNazi” by the magistrates office because he writes so many.
Cops park on Minor hill and shoot radar north on Norris mill catching people cresting a rise on Norris Mill coming from Decatur. Minor Hill sits low so you cannot see the cop carsand the cops stand in the street so you do not notice them. They pull you over onto Minor Hill so they can keep catching more. They also catch people coming from the south coming out of the "S" curves through the Flint Creek swamp area.
The limit drops from 40 to 30. The large hedge row on the right serves to block your view down the street as you head toward the Beltline and the cops get people constantly there.
The new 4-lane did Not lower the speed limit which is 30. I see them there more than any place in town. Easy pickings as 30 is just too slow a limit for the 4 lane with a turning lane in the middle. They hang out all along the short stretch but particularly between the service station and the BBQ place on the east side.
Parks car on Clearview St. and shoots radar standing on side of Spring Ave.
