Pulaski Pike to M.L.King bypass

Huntsville, AlabamaJul 23, 20101 Comments

Heading south on Pulaski from Toney, the speed limit is 55 MPH on two-lane, rural Pulaski. The road widens to four traffic lanes and a turn late at the top of a hill overlooking the Toyota plant on the east side of the road. One would naturally expect the widened road have an increased speed limit, or at least continue the 55 MPH limit, but the limit abruptly drops to 40 MPH. Just north of the Toyota plant, there is an access road for the industrial park on the left. HPD and State Troopers will often there, just back from Pulaski Pike. They’ll get you for doing even 45 MPH.

Intersection of HWY 53 and Rideout Rd aka 255

Huntsville, AlabamaJul 04, 20101 Comments

There were three of them (HSV City Police) at the entrance to the parking lot for the Shell gas station at this intersection pulling people over left and right, using LASER. They were there weekday mornings from 7-8. Speed limit on this road at this particular portion is 55 and goes to 45 after crossing over HIW 53. Watch ’em folks – they need that revenue to pay for the jail that was supposed to cost 1/4 the amount several years back.

US Hwy 72 on Chapman Mountain

Huntsville, AlabamaSep 15, 20090 Comments

Huntsville City Police are often placed on this 1-2 mile stretch of road that begins going up Chapman Mountain. Often in the mornings, you can spot police on the Highway 72 overpass running radar against cars below on 565. Other dispatch cars to pull over the speeders are often hidden on the 72 offramp behind the hill where they can not be spotted until they are behind you

Witnessed multiple State troopers running forward & rear radar waiting for people to come around the curve or over the elevation on the road. I believe speed limit is 40 or 45
