Montgomery, Alabama Speed Traps
N.Burbank Dr. at Eastdale Dr.
Usually a motorcycle cop sitting on Havenwood Dr. (for North-bound traffic) or in the parking lot of Healthsource (South-bound traffic). This is a popular place for them because of the ridiculous 25mph speed limit on N. Burbank. Motorists turning from Atlanta Highway or from Ware’s Ferry who are not familiar with the area do not realize that the speed limit has dropped. The few signs are placed so as to be inconspicuous.
I-65 N just as you get to Montgomery, speed limit is 60 MPH
Montgomery Police see this area of the Interstate Highway as a money maker. Traveling north on I-65 into Montgomery, the speed limit changes from 70 to 60. The first 60 MPH sign is in a place where another road on ramps to I65. At this point I65 is 3 lanes plus emergency lane on right. The sign is difficult to see when across 3 lanes when the traffic is heavy. I missed seeing it. It should be moved down the Highway to a clear area. The Police sit just past this sign and use a hand held unit to get you.
Intersection of Monticello Street and Greystone Drive
Stop sign at dead end of Monticello, must turn left on Greystone Drive. Police officer in car or motorcycle sits behind tress on road extension and tickets anyone who does not come to a full stop. I live there and have seen them ticket at least thirty in an afternoon. They do it mainly between 5 and 6PM or work days.
Ryan Road
Motorcycle and/or Automobile Officers are on side of road at the church entrance (hiding behing the sign), or at the road that points toward the huge water tower, or up ahead near the church across from the patio homes…. you will not see them until it’s too late, and the 35 mph limit is too slow for a cut-thru road.
I65 N about 10 miles from Montgomery
Police in the woods of the median, come around the curve and bam
