Calgary, Alberta Speed Traps

At top of Lion’s Gate (Centre Street) bridge coming up northbound from DT, there is a speedtrap at the top of the hill, first corner. left side after the lights on the middle of the bridge. Speed radar trap is set up during rush hour at the top of the hill, the police park around the corner.

There is a strip mall and hotel on east side of Edmonton Trail NE just before the lights on Edmonton Trail and Mckinght Blvd NE and the police set up a photo radar there between the cars. The speed limit is 50 k/hr but if you aren’t really watching your speed coming down the road you can get up above 50 and they’ll hit you with a photo radar ticket.

Coming off Deerfoot Trail Southbound to Southland Dr when you take the 11 St SE exit lane, go under the overpass the laneway and ramp is 80 km/hr but as you come up to the sign exit to head southwest onto Southland Dr, there is usually a cop set up behind the indicator sign at the top of the ramp before the left turn at the lights. You can’t see the police trap until about halfway up the ramp and if you haven’t slowed to 80 km before coming under the underpass, the police have enough time to to hit you with the photo radar.
