Carefree, Arizona Speed Traps
Cave Creek Road, West of Pima Road
Dark County and State Police parked in the median with radar guns facing either direction. Boaters returning from Bartlett Lake, and Hispanic work crews often pulled over.
Stage Coach Pass & N Legend Trail Pkwy
This entire town is one big speed trap. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s department prowls the 25MPH limited dual highways in their black prowl cars (always two of them together) to catch the 75 year old 30MPH speeders.
Stage Coach Road near Pima Road
This is East of Pima on Stage Coach Pass. The van is hidden on the south side of the street in bushes (hard to blieve in Arizona but it is). The street is only a 25 mph and is really hilly so it is hard to maintain a 25 mph and they know it!
Cave Creek Road
North of Carefree Hwy on Cave Creek Rd for about 2 mile going into the town of Cave Creek – 4 lane divided highway. Maricopa County Deputies hide behind trees in center media. Carefree Councilman supervising law enforcement has approved deputies approaching all vehicles with hands on weapons. There have been two recent incidents that deputies roughed-up and arrested a 70 year old grandfather and in a spearate incident a 35 year old mother of three. This is a training ground for MCSO deputies so be careful in Carefree, AZ.
along Cave Creek Road and along Tom Darlington Road
Town of Carefree has contract with Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office for police. Carefree is mainly a retirement community with lots of older residents. Vigorous enforcement of low speed limits occurs along Cave Creek Road and along Tom Darlington Road, which are routes through Carefree used by travelers going north to lakes. MCSO cars are white, sometimes unmarked.
