Marana, Arizona Speed Traps
River Road near Orange Grove Road
Heading north on River as it nears Orange Grove stoplight after Parks and Recreation Depot. Patrol cars often sit at pull out on right side of corner. Can not see them until you are right on top of the patrol car due to bushes and the curve of the road. Can be Marana or Pima county cars. PM rush and evening are the worst times. Posted 45mph, but traffic flow is usually 50mph. 10 over and he will stop you.
River Street near Orange Grove Road
When River Rd. winds up and turns to intersect with Orange Grove there may be Marana police parked there. From my experience he let me drive further almost onto the freeway so that I drove out of Tucson city limits and into theirs.
A few miles south of Pinal County line on I-10
The Arizona DPS Officer had his cruiser in a sunken center median on I-10 between Phoenix and Tucson. He used a radar gun to clock me at 85 MPH.
He was very polite in spite of having an obvious Canadian accent. But maybe he was trying to immitate Morley Safer. I signed the papers, and later paid the fine by mail. These DPS officers are quite pleasant, if they aren’t writing you up. Beware of the Marana area on I-10.
Silverbell Rd north of Ina Rd
Usual hiding places for Marana Revenue Dept. are in bushes by QuikMart, in Lil Abner’s parking lot. 45mph limit is ridiculous in this area..85th % is 55mph..but they will ticket for as little as 47.
