Patagonia, Arizona Speed Traps

Entering town from the West on 82 the speed limit falls quickly from 55 to 30. It is almost impossibke to anticipate the slowdown. Engine breaking is fined. A sherriff is right there hidden from sight with radar. You don’t stand a chance. The lowest fine is $146. A clear speed trap. Be careful! This town has a reputation.

Right before school. 35mph limit at all times. School is just an excuse. 45mph would be appropriate. City cop generating revenue just waits there like a vulture. Did I get a ticket? No. But others were sure being pulled over for barely going over speed limit.

Westbound 82. Entering Patagonia as speed changes from 55 to 45 then 30. Speed trap is on your left and faces west behind some trees.

Entering town westbound, the highway speed limit is 55 mph. It changes to 40 mph, and very quickly to 30 mph. If you do not brake rapidly, you will likely exceed 30 mph on passing the 30 mph sign. The local sheriff sits there with radar and is completely unsympathetic! A ticket for 40 mph on passing this 30 mph sign will result in a $98 fine plus the expense and time of traffic school.
