38th Street and Thunderbird

Phoenix, ArizonaMar 07, 20130 Comments

Photo radar sets up on the north side of Thunderbird Road across from a K-8 grade school. West bound on Thunderbird, the speed limit drops (posted) from 40 mph just after intersection at 40 street and Thunderbird to 35 mph (posted west of 40 mph sign about 200 yards). There is no sign posting that the speed limit drops from 40 mph to 35 mph. Photo radar in ford escape puts out sign 50 yards east of vehicle, sometime behind bushes along side of road. Watch for drop in speed from 40 mph to 35 mph, or you’ll get a photo radar ticket if you are driving over 40 mph + 6 mph.

Just north of Cactus Rd. exit on SR51 Northbound under overpass.

Posted speed is 45. Anyone doing 45 is quickly passed. Going south after you crest the hill, just after the right lane merges, there’s a cop either in the median or at North Mountain Park waiting for you.

If the two cars don’t get you….

There is a motorcycle copy on the east side of 24th St in the parking lot of the Junk Yard. 24th St feels like it should be 45 but it has remained 40 in this area.
