Prescott, Arizona Speed Traps
Willow Creek Road near Rummel Road
The small inlet located approximately 1/4 mile south of the Rumell Road shortcut into ERAU contains moderate speed enforcement provided by the Prescott Police Department. This speedtrap is along Willow Creek Road. Riddle students take extreme caution! They use K-Band Radar according to my Valentine One Radar Detector.
Wilkinson Road near Prescott International Airport
Riddle kids watch out… PPD is known to sit on this stretch, although I have yet to see them this semester.
Willow Creek Road near ERAU
YCSO sits in the parking lot of the animal kennel just north of ERAU. Speed limit is 45, although most people try to break the sound barrier on this little stretch.
New AZ 89A
Speed limit 55, should be 65. Light/moderate traffic. DPS sits on: 1) Unfinished section between AZ 89 and Larry Caldwell (where it looks like it will extend to a future overpass over AZ 89); 2) Larry Caldwell Dr, top of ramps, both NB and SB; 3) SB (towards airport) right shoulder just east of Side Road; and 4) top of hill NB (towards PV) right shoulder. The last one I have to agree with, because traffic is approaching a construction zone @ Glassford Hill, and anyone that speeds in an active construction/ school zone should be hung, in my opinion. But anyone who drives this stretch knows that the 55 is pretty unrealistic in the rest of the drive.
Willow Creek Road, from Rosser north to Sandretto
Most of the drivers on this road are aware that there are speed traps. Look up side streets and you will see concealed (unlighted) cruisers sitting with radar. The crest of this road is a sure trap without a detector because by the time you are perpendicular to the side street, the police officer sees you and you probably would never know they were there. The Church of Nazarene is a frequent location for a laser setup coming north down the road.
