Entering town from east

Star Valley, ArizonaNov 29, 20112 Comments

Bottom of steep hill. You need to apply brakes before leveling out. It is outrageous and nothing more than a method to collect revenue from already stressed citizens who then get an increase in insurance rates. No wonder that everyone is totally fed up with corrupt government. This town needs to be exposed on the Arizona and even national news. Boycott all businesses in this town!!

Two East Bound & Two West Bound Speed Cams

Star Valley, ArizonaFeb 19, 20110 Comments

Star Valley now has FOUR Speed Cams! If you slow down going into town then speed up after the first trap, then they’ll get you about 1 mile farther.

The good news is that several people I know that have been caught there haven’t paid the tickets and still have nothing on their driving records for it. I’ve been told that they can’t prove who was driving so they can’t put it on your driving record.

This place is ridiculous. I am a snow bird from Colorado, visit Arizona each winter and have been caught in both directions! Both photo radars are at the bottom of a steep mountainous inclines where you would need to be standing on the brakes to avoid going over 35 MPH. There is absolutely no risk of an accident with either another car or a pedestrian at these locations. It is just a method of generating money for the local municipality and no real effort to control traffic.

My first ticket in 60 years of driving and 6 of us sitting near each other in the "class" had tickets cited at 59 mph and NONE of us were going that fast! It’s a real rip-off and money-maker for the town. I will never buy another thing in that town or Payson.

Three sets of cameras in the main part or town.

Very well marked speed signs. If you don’t obey these, you won’t obey regular speed limits either. Forty-five mph means 45 mph tops not suggested. I’d rather a town collect revenue in a way that I have control over by my actions then taxing the property I bought or the food I need to survive. Please don’t boycott private businesses in town because the government does something you don’t like.
