Tempe, Arizona Speed Traps
Kyrene Road near Grove Parkway
On the east side of Kyrene Road there is a white big brother (photo) radar van that is parked at random spots on the east side between Elliot Road and Baseline Road. More recently I have spotted it about .2 miles south of Baseline Road.
McClintock Road near 202 West Loop
Van parked North of Curry which is North of Loop 202W on McClintock RD. I usually see the van on my way home and it parks there about 2 times a month between 3 & 5 pm.
McClintock Street near McKellips Road
Tempe/Scottsdale Border. West side of street on McClintock between McKellips and the 202 Fwy. White Van, photo-radar speed trap. Speed limit is 45 mph, it will go off if over 47 mph.
Hayden/McClintock Road near US Highway 202
Coming from Scottsdale on Hayden which turns into McKellips. Right after McKellips to 202 entrance, they sit on right hand side. Photo with small sign, posted near boat dealership. Will mail you a ticket 3 weks later with 3 views of you. I could have printed them out for Xmas Cards.
Southern Road near McClintock Drive
A motorcycle cop pulls over unsuspecting motorists who are driving the same speed as the surrounding traffic, but whom are going a few miles over the speed limit, which is unreasonably low. It’s a 40 mph zone on a roadway with no houses on the street or schools, but don’t mistake it for 45 and think you’re okay. The motorcycle officer hides behind a wall just before the Bashas’ shopping center heading west on Southern Road, just before McClintock Drive, usually seen Tuesday mornings but not always, during morning rush hour traffic. The motorcycle cop looks to be using a hand-held laser gun, which he uses while balancing on his motorcycle.
