Willcox, Arizona Speed Traps
Rex Allen Drive between I-10 and Railroad
They sit there at various locations all day waiting for someone going over 35 posted. Typical small town revenue collection/quota.
HWY 191 Hill Near Mile Mark 92
The speed trap is setup over a hill before mile marker 92. The Hi-Po has the radar setup and pointed right at the hill. This way he gets you as you’re coming over the hill and can’t see him at all. My ticket is $288 for 8 miles over the speed limit..
N Arizona Ave & Delos St
Marked dodge intrepid parks in the bushes on the east side and shoots radar up and down arizona. The vehicle is visible if you are paying attention, but i was not twice. Be careful cop is ticket hungry.
Interstate I-10 near State Highway
The trap is mobile and when I first encountered it there were at least ten Az Highway Patrol cars involved, all in the process of writing tickets. Why I am posting this information is because of the manner in which cars were being targeted: A short distance and on a curve prior to finding the string of patrols which were issuing tickets I had noticed an older unmarked police car (plain Jane) parked in the breakdown lane. The unmarked unit had been disguised as that of a broke down car complete with a Highway Patrol inspection notice in the rear window. However as I passed the car I noted the cop inside hunched down and calling out the shots over his radio.
Interstate 8 near Over Crossing
Brown Crown Vic. with dark tint on windows snuggled next to a loop onramp guardrail. This was the RADAR car. Pass the overcrosssing and they were lined up on the straight ramp waiting for orders.
