Grady, AR

My sister and I were traveling through Grady, AR (05/12/12) trying to catch up with our Aunts Funeral processional which was going to Tiller, AR. We are both from Texas and got left behind coming out of Little Rock (heavy traffic and contstruction on 530). I was stopped for going 78 in a 65. My sister was stopped for going 82 in a 65. After explaining that we were trying to catch up with our Aunts Funeral processional, we received tickets anyway. Even worse, we missed our Aunts burial (by the time we found it with GPS, it was over) and the tickets are $155.00 each. The good news is that we NEVER have to travel through Grady Arkansas again.

Grady Arkansas approximately 1 mile north and south of town

There are two chevy Impala unmarked vehicles that patrol 24 hours a day. You won’t notice them unless you have a radar detector, they are that camouflaged. Just slow down a couple of miles before getting to town. Police are not kind.

New highway 65 bypass

The new road bypassing Grady is open, but the Grady city police are patrolling it. We got a ticket for 79 in a 65 in May 2010. The cop stopped us well north and outside of Grady city limits in Jefferson County (Grady is in Lincoln County) near the Tamo water tower. He came out of nowhere, yet he says he clocked us three miles back. Unmarked white car. Smells fishy to me, but it isn’t worth the effort to fight it. Do yoursel and the rest of the world a favor and slow down so that dying little town loses the last of its revenue.

My wife and I both received a ticket almost exactly a week apart at almost the same time. We were driving to Little Rock from our new home in Mississippi. Like everyone says, the posted speed limit drops quickly and is almost unnoticeable. Be careful.

The speed limit drops from 65 to 45 in a short distance. Grady is so small they don’t even have a traffic light. This is revenue for them. The city cop will be sitting on the hwyway in an unmarked car. They want you to pay right then.
