Entire City of Johnson

Johnson, ArkansasFeb 19, 20110 Comments

The entire City of Johnson is not only a speed trap, but a police trap all together. First, if you are inside city limits, make no mistake, they want to pull you over. This is an extremely small community that somehow saw the need to buy 5 Dodge Chargers and 2 Dodge Durango’s. Therefore they need to pay for them, or at least show an excuse for them. City Limits are about 2 square miles.

My wife was stopped recently for having "Too Dark of Tinted Windows". However when they pulled her over, her windows were down. When the officer approached the window, he said "I’m writing you a ticket for your windows being too dark". My wife explained that she has driven the car for 6 years and never been pulled over for this. He said "Well let’s just see". He then tested and saw that he was indeed wrong. He then went on to say…….."They’re pretty close to being too dark though. You should either have them lightened, or stay out of my town." As a courtesy to both him and my wallet, we have both done just that.

Wilkerson st. between Main st. (to the north and the city limit to the south).
Speed limit is 30 mph on a 4 lane road with no intersections or driveways. Very easy to exceed and very likely to get caught.
Black cruisers sit in front of Green Country nursery or near the creek where they wait to write you up for any violation they can get you for.
They Need money to pay for their new building and the brand new fleet of dodge chargers recently acquired.
Don’t Drive Through Johnson, AR. If you can find a way around it, take it.

Wilkerson Road

Johnson is a samll town completely surrounded by Fayetteville/Springdale. Once a road crosses into Johnson, the speed limit falls by 5 – 10 mph and Johnson police are eager to get you on it any time of day. Beware especially of Wilkerson Ave. before it turns into Gregg Street in Fayetteville. The speed limit is 30 even though it’s a wide blvd. with 4 lanes and very little turning on/off traffic. Beware also of turning right onto Wilkerson from Joyce Street. I’ve often seen police cars waiting happily there for motorists who have forgotten to lower their speeds from the Fayetteville limits.

If you are traveling through Johnson to go to Springdale coming off Joyce Street in Fayetteville or coming down Main Street in Johnson from Springdale to get to the mall; make sure you strictly observe the speed limits. They are constantly watching. At night they like to hide by the nursery on Wilkerson, which is the street where Joyce runs into and it runs up to Main, with their lights off waiting on you to not slow down coming off the 4 lane stree to two lanes.
