Mountain Home, Arkansas Speed Traps
Hwy 62 bypass at hwy 5 overpass.
This is a known year-round speed trap usually by the Ar. state police sitting on the Hwy 5 on ramp with radar, out of view due hill at that location. Starting today 8/29/12 they have marked the Bypass for air patrol also.
Hwy 62 East Business & Hwy Department
When you are traveling West bound, coming down the hill, by Burger King, the police will sit at the highway department, usually just where you cannot see them, and radar facing east bound. As usual, if you don’t pay very, very close attention, you will forget to apply your brakes and be doing 50-55 MPH before you know it. Then you’ll be stopped at Mudbusters. Common traffic stop location!
Hwy 5 North
One of the local police, radars on Hwy 5 North, catching south bound traffic, and makes all of his stops at Bradford Square. Watch out for the old Sienna Firestone Station, and for Butler Furniture. They love to stop anyone doing "anything" wrong, so they can get their DWI extra patrol stops. If they don’t make enough stops…called contacts, they take a chance to lose their grant. Just check out the National Traffic Safety website on DWI grants, Speed grants, and Seat belt grants. You might be surprised at how much tax money goes to pay officers overtime to harass us.
Hwy 62 bypass, west bound at Hwy 5 So. overpass
Heading west on the 62 bypass at the Hwy 5 So. overpass, the State patrol will sit in the west bound entrance ramp and radar you from behind. You cannot see them until after you pass the ramp and then it’s too late.
