Kanan Road near Castle View Drive

Agoura, CaliforniaMar 08, 20081 Comments

When travelling east on Kanan road coming from the beach toward the 101 freeway, about 2 miles before Agoura Rd crosses Kanan road there is a down hill stretch that passes Castle View Drive on the right. Almost any time of day there are at least 2 sheriffs in either black & white squad cars or CHP officers on motorcycles enforcing the 50 mph speed limit vigorously. The down hill straight away with a bend to the left makes it easy to get caught doing 60mph or more while the officer is hiding off the road. As you near Agoura Road the limit drops from 50 to 40 and then 35 with signs barely visible until you are on top of them addding to the opportunity for a speeding ticket.

Heading North on Kanan Rd. between the 101 Freeway and Thousand Oaks Blvd, there is a slight downhill grade. The posted limit is 35 MPH, but people generally travel 40-45 MPH. Sheriff motorcycle and cars are often parked in the bike lane on the right at the low point of the hill. When they are there, they always catch people.

Ventura Boulevard near Lindero Canyon Road

Agoura, CaliforniaAug 21, 20071 Comments

CHP motorcycle officer waits on sidestreet intersecting Ventura Blv between Lindero Canyon Rd and Westlake Blvd. Westlake High School is close by. He is there every school day morning and seems to have a problem reading the correct rate of speed on the radar gun.
