American Canyon, California Speed Traps
Motorcycle cop usually sits on American Canyon Rd(west) ant the entrance to the mobile home park, or the intersection of american canyon rd and 29 either direction
In the AM the CHP(California Highway Patrol)wait at the top of the 80 EAST on-ramp at American Canyon Road waiting for speeders going to Fairfield, Sacramento and beyond. This is for your own good as there are too many accidents on that stretch of the highway.
ACPD will be posted southbound Hwy 29, between Napa Junction Road and Rio Del Mar Drive. They use both patrol cars and motorcycle cops, catching you as you come over the overpass.
Officers sit apon the American Canyon off ramps waiting for speeders going in the opposite direction and then radio to thier other officer sitting in the correct position to persue that person.
Many tourists and wine country visitors have to travel along the Hwy 29 corridor through American Canyon to enter the Napa Valley. Traveling North on 29 the Napa County Sheriffs Vehicles patrol the road constantly. They make a loop on this 2.5 mile stretch of road and seem to be out and about in force towards the middle of the month and especially weekends. NCS are contracted out to the city of American Canyon. They drive white crown victorias. Traveling south on Hwy 29 NCS park on the downhill side of an overpass and nail you as you are coming down the incline. Do not go wine tasting and drive through this area! Get a designated driver! IF you even smell like alcohol, expect to spend time @ the lovely Napa County Jail. I have been informed that on the weekends the NCS stop ANY car that looks like a visiting tourist for any reason that they can get away with legally, such as out-of-order taillights, registration tags, unsafe lane change. DUIs are a for the county revenues. p.s. These guys are real jerks.
