Bishop, California Speed Traps
Highway Patrol Officer loops No./So. through a series of lower speed limits. 65/45/35/25 in 2-3 miles.
There is a section of US 395 just north of town where the speed limit changes from 35 mph to 45 mph then back to 35 mph in a short stretch. Highway Patrol sit next to the volunteer fire dept station or on one of the side streets.
For North bound traffic Chp will sit in the middle right before you come around the curve to proceed up the grade. For southbound traffic they sit at the bottom where you cant see them until you come over the hill and its to late. BEWARE. Also at toms place slow down either north bound or south bound.
A CHP will sit on the southbound exit of the truck weigh station just south of Collins Rd and norht of the dip after the Keough’s Hot Springs exit. He points his radar south to catch people just coming out of that dip.
Bishop PD will nail you with K band radar in their tiny little town. If you drive a fast car, or a flashy car they are particularly interested in you because they know you will just pay the ticket. Best if you keep it to the speed limit between Lone Pine and June Lake loop areas. Enforcement through these cities are heavy with CHP and local police especially on Fridays and Sundays.
