Corona, California Speed Traps

Police officer waits on the northeast corner as Grand Ave. approaches Main St. He is close to the intersection and waiting at the top of the hill. He waits between parked cars and lasers you as you are coming up the hill. The road there is FIVE lanes wide and is bordered on one side by railroad tracks and a dirt area and on the other side by the Park & Ride lot which has virtually no traffic during non-rush hours. Having turned onto Grand from a side street, there is NO posted limit so the Basic Speed Law would seem to apply (safe speed for conditions and time of day). However, they are enforcing 35 mph.

On Friday the 13th, 2002, turned right on River Road from Corydon Street. Went up the hill and as soon as I reached the top, I got a laser alert on my radar/laser detector. Performed by a motorcycle officer who has just released another speeder (the driver was leaving the scene). Be wary in Corona, CA. They love to use laser! (I was going at the speed limit, by the way so I wasn’t caught)

Just another sighting about a month ago of ANOTHER motorcycle officer using a laser gun. Another thing, if you are using a radar detector, don’t depend on it going off if you intercept a cop car because Corona police officers are smart enough not to leave it on like they do in Norco, CA.

Motorcycle cops will be posted at both ends and in the middle of 6th street. Usually work in a team of 3.
