Escondido, California Speed Traps
Valley Center Grade Entering Into Escondido
CHP and Escondido Police like to lurk on either side of the lower end of the grade. Police units are usually parked at the far end of the roadway curve. Units are out of view of vehicle traffic until the vehicle clears the curve area. Due to steepness of the road…a coasting vehicle will often times exceed the posted 55mph limit resulting in a ‘speeding’ ticket. This area is a real $ maker for the State as well as the City of Escondido. The speed limit for the same area used to be 65 mph until the ‘public servant’ authorities realized that a 55 mph zone would be a dramatic revenue generator!
Valley Pkwy.and Juniper
Motorcycle cops with guns..sometimes three at a time.
Bear Valley Pkwy between Citrus and East Valley Parkway
Erreca’s construction zone. Because of construciton is posted 25 mph and speeding tickets are doubled in price. MC cop sits in driveway to apartment complex, behind wall/bush with just his laser gun poking out and grabs violaters left and right. Sometimes so many violaters that there are 2 cops–one to laser and one to write violaters.
North Ash going south to E. El Norte Pky
Motorcycle cops sit on the left near botton of hill and laze.
CANNOT go down hill and stay under speedlimit without staying on brakes. Even ‘coasting’ you will go over limit.
Valley Parkway and Rose
Heading west on Valley Parkway, right before you come to Rose intersection, motorcycle cop is hiding behind a big sign or bush (can’t remember what it is he’s hiding behind) at Mexican restaurant on the right. Careful!
