Glendale, California Speed Traps
Sonora Ave. & Glenoaks Blvd.
When headed East bound on Sonora Ave., the speed limit suddenly drops from 35 MPH to 25 MPH after passing San Fernando Blvd. and stays that way after passing Glenoaks Blvd. and onward. The 25 MPH speed limit sign is placed a little high (above the "neighborhood watch" sign) after passing San Fernando Blvd. so be aware. The catch: the yellow light on the Sonora Ave. & Glenoaks Blvd. traffic light is only 3 seconds long, shorter than typical yellow light durations since its a 25 MPH zone. Motorcycle cops wait in the shopping complex parking at that intersection, issuing red light tickets to motorists who didn’t expect the red light to come on sooner than normal (3.6 seconds at 35 MPH zones). A yellow light duration table, as well as wealth of other good information, is available at the following website: http://www.highwayrobbery.net/
