Barton Road near Mount Vernon Avenue
Speed limit on Barton Road drops from 50 mph to 40 mph when heading into Grand Terrace city limits from Colton. Grand Terrace Sheriff units hide in various places along the 40 mph stretch until you get to the 215 freeway. The stretch is only about 1 to 2 miles long and the speed limit is strictly enforced. 40mph is not unduly restrictive but enforcement is constant.
Whenever you see any work crews with 25 mph signs, you had also better be aware there is a Sheriff parked nearby with radar.

Barton east Road near mountain view Road
The police sit 1/2 mile east of mountain view rr on the south side of the street, in a drive way just before the library with a radar gun. They will not let you off. The problem for those who do not know is the 40 mile per hour sign is obscured by the trees, and hard to see, also there is no radar sign posted. This seems like a %0 mile per hour zone beacuse further down the road it turns into a 50 mph area.
