Highland, California Speed Traps
Motorist not giving Pedestrians the Right of Way, are ticketed by Highland Sheriff on motorbikes.
Location: Baseline at Kay’s Cafe in Highland. West of Palm Ave.
There is a passing lane in this area, the first in many miles, and this passing lane has a turnout about 3/4 of the way through the passing lane area that is totally concealed by vegetation (the officer can completely hide from motorist view until they are in the maximum point of acceleration to pass in order to get out of the passing lane before it ends). The problem here is that it doesn’t reflect the average or NORMAL speed of the motorist, it is a temporary short acceleration for a very short period of time, and then the citation is for the speed that you were allegedly travelling with no reduction for tolerances in the equipment.
San Bernardino Sheriff Motor officers routinely patrol Greenspot rd. between Boulder ave. and Church street (usually tucked into the entrance to Village Lakes HOA) for anyone exceeding 45 mph. they have been known to cite for just 1 mph over the posted 45 mph.
