Highland, California Speed Traps
Not a Speed Trap, but a Pedestrian Crossing Trap
Motorist not giving Pedestrians the Right of Way, are ticketed by Highland Sheriff on motorbikes.
Location: Baseline at Kay’s Cafe in Highland. West of Palm Ave.
US Highway 330 near City Creek Ranger Station
There is a passing lane in this area, the first in many miles, and this passing lane has a turnout about 3/4 of the way through the passing lane area that is totally concealed by vegetation (the officer can completely hide from motorist view until they are in the maximum point of acceleration to pass in order to get out of the passing lane before it ends). The problem here is that it doesn’t reflect the average or NORMAL speed of the motorist, it is a temporary short acceleration for a very short period of time, and then the citation is for the speed that you were allegedly travelling with no reduction for tolerances in the equipment.
