Kyburz, California Speed Traps
State Highway 50 near West end of Kyburz on the way to Lake Tahoe
Highway 50 west bound as you enter the town limits of Kyburz, there is a cafe on the right side of the road, next to a gas station. Just before you get to the cafe is a huge totem pole. Highway Patrol shoots radar from behind that totem pole, as cars come around the last curve as you come into town. Also will set 1/2 mile further down the road on the left side, in the driveway of the fire department. This area is marked as 35 mph, but it is a major busy highway. Most traffic is in excess of 65+ mph. These traps are usually set up on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, to nail the traffic on the way to Lake Tahoe.
State Highway 50 near Silver Fork Street
Speed changes from 55 to 45 with no warning. The 45mph sign is as you come around a bend, the CHIP is less then 100 feet from the sign.
