Torrey Pines s Road near La Jolla Parkway

La Jolla, CaliforniaSep 24, 20080 Comments

Torrey Pines Road south-bound toward La Jolla Parkway (formerly Ardath Road). Torrey Pines southbound includes a steep descent before it levels out near the intersection at La Jolla parkway. Speed limit drops abruptly from 50 to 35 and sign obscured by trees. Radar used on soutbound lanes where you are still trying to slow down for 35 zone just after you pass Pottery Canyon Road on your left and some apartments on your right. They sit in between parked cars and it is fish in a barrel in both AM and PM drive times.

La Jolla Boulevard

La Jolla, CaliforniaJun 26, 20080 Comments

Northbound La Jolla Boulevard runs through a residential area just after Nautilus Street. So while it is the only major coastal thoroughfare into downtown La Jolla, the speed limit is only 25 miles an hour (standard for a residential area in CA). Most motorists don’t realize this even though it’s posted. Motorcycle cops will wait in the alley just before Genter St. and catch speeding motorists as they head into the downtown area. I haven’t received a ticket there, but I walk in the area and see them regularly pulling over motorist after motorist. It’s like shooting fish in a barrel.

La Jolla scenic Drive near La Jolla Village Drive

La Jolla, CaliforniaMay 10, 20080 Comments

Traveling north on La Jolla scenic drive just before reaching La Jolla village drive there is a slight down hill slope that will make you pick up speed. There are two motorcycle units at the same time with radar from 9 am to 12 pm. Every time I’ve seen them they both were writing tickets.

Torrey Pines Road (southbound)

La Jolla, CaliforniaFeb 28, 20030 Comments

Near the bottom of Torrey Pines Road at the end of a moderate downhill grade, just before the intersection with La Jolla Shores Drive two motorcycle cops wait and tag cars as they reach the intersection. They are usually hidden behind parked cars in front of apartments. Hard to spot, but apparently a very profitable location judging by all the motorists receiving citations.
