Lafayette, California Speed Traps
Mount Diablo Boulevard (across from McDonalds
In the mornings (7-9am), a cop car is sitting in the business park parking lot directly across Mount Diablo Boulevard from McDonald’s. He clearly has his radar gun out, radaring cars. The speed limit is 35 (a bit low for such wide, long road in my opinion) and it’s very easy to get up to something like 45 without realizing it.
Elizabeth Street and Deer Hill Road
Police park on Elizabeth Street – back enough to be hidden behind mature trees and corner house to catch drivers going up or down Deer Hill Road over the 45 mph speed limit.
Highway 24 westbound at Pleasant Hill Road
The Highway Patrol, many times in a white, unmarked car, sits just past the exit and uses radar or LASER to monitor traffic. They then either use a chase car to pull offenders over or simply use the long on ramp to accelerate to catch up with the offender. Probably a good idea to keep speeds under 75 MPH when entering 24 from 680, or from Mt. Diablo in Walnut Creek.
Deer Hill & Oak Hill
Cop sits on Oak Hill facing downhill to Deer Hill Intersection. Usually at BART commute times.
Upper Happy Valley Rd & N Peardale Dr
The cops park opposite N. Peardale Dr. looking for drivers to run the stop sign.
