Long Beach, California Speed Traps
Cover St., between Paramount Blvd. and Lakewood Blvd.
Watch out when traveling westbound on the newly opened Cover St. west of Lakewood Blvd. Unit hides in driveway on north side of Cover St. just west of the new "roundabout" with the Douglas Aircraft Co. theme; halfway between Paramount Blvd. and Lakewood Blvd. Seen at 11:30PM to 12:00 midnight when the Boeing 2nd shift lets out. A number of these driveways exist which will eventually be streets when construction is finished. Most aren’t deep enough to hide a Crown Vic except the one I described. Cover St. is newly opened between Paramount Blvd. and Lakewood Blvd. and from the "burnout" marks on the pavement seems to be a favorite area for "hotrodders".
Eastbound South Street just before Downey Ave
I usually see 3-5 motorcycles in the Lakewood Regional Medical Center parking lot, just before the old Albertson’s building. They are usually there on Thursdays, and I have seen them there at 4 in the afternoon, and then at 2 in the morning waiting for all the bar flies and drunks to leave the bar across the street. The posted speed is 35 until you hit Downey, where it goes to 40. They will nail drivers going in both directions, so be careful. My brother got popped for doing 38. These cops are RUTHLESS!
North bound Wardlow Rd on bridge over 710
Coming down off bridge MOTO cop radars you from behind hedge 1/4 mile down the road tricky snake in the hedge!
South bound exit of 405 freeway at Studebaker offramp
You get off the 405 freeway at Studebaker going south there is a stop sign that is a long rolling lane that should just be a yield sign. A motorcycle cop sits back in a hdden spot and gives tickets for failure to complete your stop
Palo Verdes Ave. and E. Belen St.
This is in the alley behind CVS at Spring and Palo Verde. LBPD parks back far enough by the dumpsters so they can be seen. At least one of the officers drops his kid off for school there in a marked unit.
