Long Beach, California Speed Traps
Ocean Boulevard near I-710 and Pico Ave.
Heading East on the Gerald Desmond Bridge from Terminal Island there is a steep downhill with a speed limit that requires you to downshift and drag your brakes for over a half mile to stay under the deliberately low speed limit. The mcy. cop sits behind the pillar for the Pico Ave. turn-off and it is "Welcome to Long Beach" that will be $240. Great public relations!
Stearns Street near Palo Verde
I’ve seen a moto officer sitting in the SCE access road driveway between Taco Bell and the 405 over pass on the north side of Stearns facing the west bound traffic. Slow down before you go over the flood control channel.
Downey ave. Avenue near South Street
Motor officers on Downey ave. between South st. and Artesia blvd. Posted speed 35 mph.
4th Street near Park Avenue
As you are approaching Park from 4th Motorcycle Police love to enforce the ridiculous 25 mph speed limit… you coast down the hill faster! I was passed
by a bicyclist when I got my ticket… and I am an ER nurse at the hospital that has the LBPD contract!…
E. Wardlow Road near Interstate 710 overpass
Usually right after Thanksgiving, ’til after New Years’ all hours of the day. Motorcycle/cruisers use radar to enforce speed limits.
