Los Angeles - West, California Speed Traps
Southbound Santa Fe Ave approaching 26th St
This speed trap is in Los Angeles southbound on Santa Fe Ave approaching 26th St. The posted speed limit is 30 mph, but it’s downhill. The street (Santa Fe Ave)runs on an overpass so the downhill speed is what gets people. I have tried to drive the posted speed limit if 30 mph, but it almost seems like 30 mph impedes traffic. A traffic officer sometimes parks in a driveway at the bottom of the hill/overpass with a radar gun.
Sunset Blvd and Charles E Young Drive/UCLA campus
LAPD Officer Ree loves to sit at this intersection at the bottom of the hill right before Charles E Young Drive as you’re heading east.
National Blvd. under the 10 FWY in cheviot hills
When exiting the 10fwy, you are not allowed to turn right on red. A cop often hides in the 76 gas station at the corner and waits. I have personally seen people get pulled over there as late as 1 A.M.
Sawtelle Blvd. between Pico Blvd. & National Blvd.
At least three on or off LAPD Motor Officers along this six block length with radar. Their favorite places are in the shadows under the 10 Fwy overpass (where you can not see them untill the last minute), or just before National Blvd. where they park in the corner parking lot and shoot radar north, up Sawtelle Blvd. at the south bound cars. They are there through out the day from 07:00 to 19:00 as long as there is daylight. On an average they trap five or more days a week including both days of the weekend. This has been going on for four years now.
Intersection Pico Blvd. & Bundy Drive.
Photo camera installed and operational. As of 4-16-2010, going East on Pico, no signs posted warning of camera.
