Police Motorcycles, there are minimally 2, sit in parking area adjacent to street with radar guns. There is a blind turn and it is on a downhill slope. It is almost impossible to stay the speed limit without riding your brakes. Always busy.

Santa Monica east bound Expressway near National Blvd off ramp

Los Angeles, CaliforniaMay 08, 20050 Comments

This is a very busy intersection in the morning rush hour. The motorcycle officer parks on the east side of National Bl. at the intersection of the offramp; he is well hidden from vehicles exiting the fwy. He writes a lot of tickets for gridlock violators, (stuck in the intersection when the light turns red). Do not enter this intersection in the morning from any direction unless you are certain that you will exit the intersction before the light turns red.

Slauson Avenue near Overhill Drive

Los Angeles, CaliforniaApr 19, 20050 Comments

As you travel East on Slauson, just after passing La Brea Ave and Overhill Dr, you begin to go down a hill. The posted speed limit is 35 mph, but the hill causes drivers to easily hit 45 mph. A motorcop is frequently waiting at the bottom of this hill with a radar gun, pulling over anyone who goes over 35 mph. I work with three teachers who received tickets at this speed trap in the last month alone. You have to either shift into a lower gear on this hill or ride your brake all the way down to keep below 35 mph.
