Marina Del Rey, California Speed Traps
Marina Freeway (90) Between 405 and Lincoln Blvd.
The speed limit on the very short 2 mile Marina freeway drops to 55 for no discernable reason. Most commuters coming from the 405 don’t know it, even though it’s posted because there is no reason for it. After 1.5 miles the freeway ends and the speed limit drops to 45 as the freeway becomes a city street.
For the previous 1.5 miles, it is a wide open lightly traveled freeway. CHP hides around a right hand curve just before Culver Boulevard with a radar gun and hands out tickets all day long knowing people driving 65 don’t realize they are speeding. Beware.
at end of 90 Fwy heading West.
As one comes around a long bend, parked by a construction wall near some small trees, is an occasional CHP cruiser shooting laser. Anything under 70 mph is fine, cause some people really fly on this short, empty stretch
Villa Marina at turn by the Main Channel
A motorcycle cop sits hiding up under the trees next to the channel. He shoots his radar gun up Villa Marina and ALS parallel to the main Chanel. You can’t see him until it’s too late. Sometimes he’s reading the newspaper so you might get lucky.
