South bound on Mountain at Huntington Dr. cross street

Monrovia, CaliforniaFeb 13, 20120 Comments

Not a textbook Speed Trap, but trap nevertheless. Drivers exiting Arco AMPM gas station onto Mountain Ave southbound will be cited for non-permitted left hand turn. Monrovia PD waits across the street and tickets all infractions. Signage displaying No Left Turn is poor and not obvious.

Monrovia PD enforcement operates during nighttime hours for squad car concealment and minimal traffic making drivers believe exiting left is safe and legal.

This enforcement action is revenue driven. If public safety is truly an issue, then enforcement would be during peak or moderate traffic flows, not late at night.

School zone, especially bad in morning between 7:10 and 7:45 am. Speed drops from 40 to 25 mph and cops line up waiting for speeders. Will ticket the moment your tires cross over posted school zone sign. Most mornings Monday – Friday.
