Monrovia, California Speed Traps
Peck Road near South of Live Oak Ave
Approx. once a month, various agency’s set up a checkpoint to inspect NB heavy trucks and cars. Strange area because 4 cities and six jurisdictions intersect here (Monrovia, Irwindale, Arcadia, El Monte, plus L.A. County Sheriff and CHP). It’s a great location (Between Clark and Live Oak), you can’t see the C.P. before the last possible turnout, and it’s across the street from a wrecking yard. They stop all heavy trucks, and anyone towing anything to Irwindale Speedway (around the corner). CHP, LASO and Monrovia park their bikes in the median, just in case you are silly enough to speed past going south. So if you notice traffic stacking up near Lower Azusa going NB in the morning, watch out. SB, you’re outta luck if you’re asleep at the wheel.
