Cruiser sits on Sierra Hwy after Golden Valley heading South just as you come around the curve on Sierra before the onramp to the freeway.

Wiley Canyon Street

Newhall, CaliforniaJun 03, 20040 Comments

Drving southbound on Wiley Canyon towards Calgrove. The road narrows out and make a ‘S’ shaped road. The area is hedged with bushes and over grown shrub. You will not even get to see the Sheriff before he nails you on his radar gun. This is more of a cheap revenue generating stream. On certain days and there are probably 4-5 officers waiting in line to nail you. The speed is so notoriously low that you are bound to speed. In my humble opinion this is more of a speed trap.

Wiley Canyoh Between Calgrove and Lyons Avenue

Speed limit on Wiley changes from 45 between the San Fernando Road Bridge and Lyons to 35. LA County Sheriffs set up speed traps after the Wiley Canyon Elementary School and before Calgrove.

Sierra Highway off Highway 14

Newhall, CaliforniaMar 01, 20020 Comments

When you exit onto Sierra Hwy off of either Balboa Blvd., or Highway 14, or from anywhere…The speed limit is 50 MPH. It is very difficult to maintain 50 MPH without having your foot on the brakes constantly — especially going downhill. The speed limit should be 60 MPH — that can be maintained very easily. It is strictly for revenue and you are never safe!! The minute you let down your guard, trust me, you will be stopped. Also, the speed limit changes to 45 MPH after you cross Golden Valley Road. This is a fact even people who’ve lived here for years aren’t aware of until they’re finally stopped. So pay attention whenever you travel this road that goes all the way to Palmdale, California (at least 45 miles).
