On Tampa Ave close to Nordhoff Ave.

Northridge, CaliforniaAug 18, 20101 Comments

Coming off of 118 fwy towards NFC (Northridge Fashion Center), the speed limit is 45 mph and decreases to 40 mph. Between Plummer & Tampa, the speed limit decreases to 35 mph and the motorcycle cop is hiding in the drive way of the mall on the right hand side close to Tampa with his radar gun. He’s there between 7:30 am – 11:00 am giving out tickets every 5 minutes. So, to all speeders out there….slow down in this hot spot!

Intersection of Zelza and Nordhoff

Motorists southbound on Zelza turning right on red are ticketed for violation of no right turn on red signs. Enforcement is concentrated after dark, when the rate of motorist violation increases to 20%+ with lowered sign visiblity. Violations and presumably enforcement are countinuous during day as well.

Corbin Ave. S/Bound, Lassen to Plummer

A car or motorcycle will sit at the only alleyway entrance on the west side. It’s a fairly long stretch with no driveways to street. They radar Gun to the north. It is difficult to see the car sitting there at this point due to the trees and parked cars at the curb. I’ve only seen one in the morning time catching commuters sailing down Corbin to the 101 fwy or pierce college. Squad cars have not been their for the past couple months, but they will be back.

Reseda…right off the 118 to Devonshire

As soon as you get off the freeway there is a light, if you turn right to go towards Devonshire, the police are ALWAYS on the right hand side. EVERYDAY for the past month there has been at least 2 bike cops with radar ready. SUPER BAD BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 2:30-7:00. Not always that late but they still stick around sometimes. They are sitting in the side street so you can’t see them if you are in the left lane and a car is the the right of you. VERY SNEAKY POLICE.

Parthenia (Between Balboa and Lindley)

This entire residential stretch is a giant trap because it’s a 45 mph, so most people go 50+. I live on this street and cops alternate every other week here, so one week they radar, and the next I see no cops the whole week. But when they are here, I see 2 or 3 people a day (minimum!) pulled over. They hide in the gated driveways, especially ones with trees!

Instead of catching speeders, maybe they should be doing something useful, like cracking down on rapes, assaults, and theft.
