Oxford, California Speed Traps
Vineyard Road near Oxnard Boulevard
The residential area between Oxnard Blvd. and Ventura Blvd. (in particular the section that curves right and then left) is ALWAYS monitored by an officer on a motorcycle, usually with a radar gun. This area is posted as 40mph, but it BEGS to be driven at least 60. You WILL get nabbed; I have several times. The posted speed limit is fair: I often see people running across the street, cars pulling out, etc. But the cops know people feel the need for speed here, and they take advantage of it. Don’t be a statistic!
Vineyard Avenue near Oxnard Boulevard
Sudden changes of speed limits, which are not realistic for the area in question.
Vineyard Avenue near Oxnard Boulevard
exit from US 101 freeway into a 30mph zone. as this is a commercial district, one would expect speed limits are 40-45. signs are few (one in each direction and are posted at high traffic intersections and are not readily visible as the motorist is watching for other hazards). officers are usually mounted on cycles and are nearly invisible. use caution.
Harbor Boulevard near Spinniker Way
Southbound on Harbor between Seward and Pinnicker, the Ventura motorcycle cops hide out in from of parked cars on the west side of the road in front of the condos. They even make every effort to align their bike’s tires with those of the parked cars as not to be seen. Speedlimit is 40MPG in the area and most do 50MPH+.
Gonzalez Road near Victoria Avenue
This road has no posting of a speed limit sign. I have no idea as to what the speed limit has been since moving here in 2004. It is a road that the workers use for strawberry picking. Because of the make-up of the land to sign is unable to be posted. One intersection states 50 MPH then when you reach Victoria Ave. is states 45MPH.
