Palms, California Speed Traps
Sepulveda Blvd and National Blvd – under the 405
A pair of motorcycle cops will sit at the residential street (Sardis Ave) and catch southbound traffic on Sepulveda speeding towards National. They sit right behind a blind curve so you won’t see them until it is too late. They are using Laser. I have seen them mostly during lunchtime, and it is a very easy place to speed. Straight stretch, no lights, no reason not to go beyond 35mph.
10 West exit to National Blvd
At the light at the end of the ramp, there is no right turn on red. The cop usually sits at the gas station right around the corner near the Vons waiting for people to run the red light.
Motor Avenue near National Boulevard
When going north on Motor this trap is just past where you cross National. At least once a week during morning rush hour (I’ve seen them as many at 3 days in a row) they have two to three police there hidden where the street goes under the freeway.
They’ll often have one cop step out into the street and wave over two or three cars at a time to other waiting cops. If you don’t stop one of the cops is sitting in a car further up the street to catch you.
The limit is around 35 but traffic usually flows faster than that. That is also a tricky intersection because you aren’t allowed to turn North onto Motor during certain hours.
Palms Street near Venice Boulevard
Just East of Sepulveda Blvd., heading east on Palms Ave. as you get down to the bottom of the hill there are police usually hidden in a apartment parking space just before the middle school. Slow Down!
