25 MPH!??? Are they kidding? There’s a friendly radar sign at the entrance to town to let you know about it. Seems like the entire stretch of University from the 101 into the shopping district is a trap.

Police parks in the parking lot and points his radar gun at cars as they drive onto East Bayshore road from the Embarcadero intersection. There is a bend in the road, and you might take it too fast–that’s when the cop catches you.

The CHP and the East Palo Alto police dept. both like to troll for speeders among cars coming down off of the Dumbarton Bridge westbound on CA-84. Their favored location is approximately 0.7 mi west of the transition from bridge to surface road, in the turn-off area used mostly by CHP, emergency-services and CalTrans vehicles.

You can frequently spot a cop running radar with his car backed up to face traffic directly next to the first large sign after coming off the bridge, on the right of the road. An alert motorist can easily spot a cruiser parked in this location while driving down the last few hundred feet of the bridge, well before radar is a threat.

I was very surprised when my Valentine radar detector went off for Laser! I thot the only place they were using laser was on the Golden Gate bridge. I’ve been driving that stretch of 101 for 2+ years and never got a laser indication on my detector. Watch out people! They seem to be using Laser on 101 now! Luckily my detector saved me this morning!
