CHP and sheriff cars set up around long sweeping curves with instant-on radar. CHP is also using instant-on in moving traps from both front and rear. SOP is for officer to leave radar off until he approaches a curve then turning it on and "painting" unsuspecting vehicles rounding the turn from the opposite direction. I have also been "painted" with CHP rear facing radar as I came up on cruisers traveling in same direction. This section of hwy 89 has a disproportionate number of cruisers per mile. Speed limit is marked 55 except in towns. The road is wide and straight with good surface conditions and it is easy to do 20 over without feeling like you are "speeding."
