From early am until mid to later afternoon CHP and SDPD park themselves on the overpass which is the on ramp and off ramp for the HOV traffic lanes that run in the middle of the north and southbound normal traffic lanes. They use Laser and Radar and are active and aggressively using both Monday thru Fridays every week.

Alva RD SB Approaching Rancho Bernardo Rd

A Highway Patrol Motorcycle sits and hides using Laser at the end of Alva Rd as your approach Rancho Bernardo Rd. By the time you see him it is too late as he is using Laser goggles. I know this because I was caught doing 59 in a 35. Even with a Escort Redline detector you don’t stand a chance. Keep it below 40.

This morning I notice he changed his MO. CHP Motorcycle now sitting in the residential part of Alva just South of Black Granite Drive. Speed is 25 and is using instant on radar. You don’t stand a chance if your are the only car moving along. My detector did pick up, but after I had a visual, fortunately I was only going 25.

I-15 Rancho Bernardo area – southbound Commuter Lanes

Communter Lane thru Rancho Bernardo – the CHP motorcycle cops can be found anywhere between Lake Hodges and the Carmel Mountain Rd. overpass.

The Commuter Lanes thru this region have uphill curves and downhill curves for the CHP motorcycle cop to "suddenly appear" as well as the Carmel Mountain Rd. overpass to hide underneath – in the shadows.

I even saw a CHP motorcycle cop setup one time on the southbound side at the Ted Williams HOV onramp "S" curve

Use caution and use your radar detector
