Cypress Avenue near Athens Avenue
RPD Motorcycle officers sit in the center median at the West end of the Sacramento River Bridge. They mainly use laser, but sometimes switch to radar. They catch people coming over the bridge going towards downtown. They also will sit in a dirt parking lot near a forestry building farther West to try to get traffic going towards city hall. They start early in the morning and will take a couple breaks, but I see them there all day until it’s dark. A six lane divided road is rated at 35 mph.
Shasta View Drive near Kerry Avenue
RPD will put a guy in a car hiding behind a fence across from a church. The speed limit goes from 40 to 30 and goes downhill over the freeway. Very easy to get tagged there because you are going 40 and go over the freeway, then you can’t even slow down before they zap you on laser.
