Hwy 49 and Carol Kennedy Rd
There is a passing lane at this section of Hwy 49. The CHP parks at the top of the hill on Caroline Kennedy Dr, the road up to the airport. They catch you when you speed up to pass slow drivers.

CHP are parking in areas off Hwy. 49 within a half mile of stop sign where Hwy. 12 ends into Hwy. 49. They can be there any time of day but seem to be there more often at shift changes and rush hour. You can’t see them until it is too late to lower your speed!

If traveling N on 49, you come to the highway 12 and 49 split a couple miles out of San Andreas. After taking 49 to the right, you proceed up a long hill going towards Mokelumne Hill. This part of the highway is almost always quiet, not many cars, and is the perfect speed trap. It is a long straight stretch of a hill, but beware of the black and whites sitting right over the top of the first hump. Have seen them there multiple times, at all different times of the day.
