San Carlos, California Speed Traps
The closed off/on ramp I-280 N: 37°29’40.6″N 122°18’11.0″W
One or two CHP officers will frequently sit at the top of the on ramp and watch downhill traffic headed towards the CA-92 junction.
NB I-280 before Hwy 92 split
The road widens to 5, then 7 lanes, it’s downhill with good sight lines, and the CHP is sitting up on the return roads from the vista points (including the closed one). You can’t see them as you come around the curve. A turkey shoot.
They also come up from the on ramp from the underpass to the vista point on the west side of the road.
Occasionally they’ll work the southbound side just after the 92 merge.
Getting on 101 at Holly off of Industrial
Do not get in the south bound right lane on Industrial marked 101South and then cut over to 101 North entrance. Police wait at top of overpass to pull you over. Easy pickings for a chicken S ticket.
On Brittan Ave. between Industrial Road and Old County Road
Police officers sit in two entrances of the driveways behind Home Depot-looking for those trying to catch the lights heading (eastbound) onto or those coming off (westbound) the "101" freeway’s on/off ramps. They are never there for more than five minutes – before their lights go on.
