San Jose, California Speed Traps
State Highway 101 near 13th Street
There is a trap used by CHP on the 101 FWY. South between the 880 overcrossing and 13th St. Oakland Rd. exit. Cop stations underneath the overcrossing. I work right at the corner of 13th and 101, and must see them pulling cars over at least 20 times a day.
State Highway 85 near US Highway 101
Going south on 85 right before you hit 101. I think theres a cop hidden on the exit of the light rail station. I got caught around 2am, and my friend got caught around 1am…it was the same cop too…
North Winchester Street near Pruneridge Street
This street has one of the new "old folks home" speed limit. This just like a school zone, but 24/7. The limit is 25, which is absurd. SJPD picks off drivers going North almost constantly.
West Hedding Street near Interstate 880
Cops position themselves just beyond the I-880 undercrossing. It is impossible to spot them in advance, and almost impossible for a radar detector to see past the freeway. Enforcement happens in both directions.
Kooser Road near Camden Avenue
As one travels eastbound on Kooser Rd passing Dartmouth a cop car will often be sitting behind the tall trees and brick wall along Dartmouth. Kooser is two lanes here, wide lanes and very little traffic. The post limit is 35 but 40 to 45 feels very safe instinctively. Be careful here. After getting my ticket and running an errand a half mile beyond, I came back the same route about 3 minutes later and he was writing up someone else in the same spot.
