Interstate 5 near State Highway 74
Shortly after passing the Hwy 74 aka Ortega Hwy exit, a CHP officer sits at the side with his radar on, usually a Camaro.
State Highway Ortega near La Pata to Interstate 5
This is a heavily enforced area between the I-5 and La Pata Road. On Occassion there are commercial vehicle stings. At times of the day there is always a speed warning sign, sometimes motorcycle officers are located at parkway of the Crawford House or one of the residential streets. Proceed at posted speeds(I have witnessed people pulled over for +/-5mph). Eastbound it is 45 mph/Westbound it is 45 mph until you see residential parkways where it changes to 40 mph.
US Highway 74 Ortega near Interstate 5
Leaving the 5 Freeway and going east on Ortega Hwy 74, the speed trap is typically one mile on the right side of Ortega. Area is a double fine zone and do not go more than 3 – 5 miles over.

pretty agressive enforcement going on here. not uncommon to see 2 cars pulled over within 1/2 mile of each other. sometimes there’s a motorcycle cop or even a cruiser hiding behind gaps in the center divider. tricky tricky…
Highway 74 (Ortega Hwy) from I-5 to Lake Elsinore
This is a double-fine zone due to many accidents. There is a zero tolerance policy towards speeding or crossing the double yellow. The straightaways between Caspers Park on the west and San Juan Hot Springs to the east are heavily patrolled.
