San Luis Obispo, California Speed Traps
Johnson Avenue, between Laurel Lane and Sydney St.
Usually one or two motorcycle officers. Have seen them parked obscurely in a driveway, on the French Hosptal side of Johnson. As you’re approaching from either direction, you tend to pick up speed as their location is at the bottom of a hill. Haven’t seen them lately as they have put up a digital speed monitor in the general vacinity, but you never know.
Santa Rosa/Hwy 1 and Murray
Headed south on Santa Rosa past Foothill. Right after Murray there’s a cop on a motorcycle that hangs out in the professional plaza to the right that gets people coming down Santa Rosa. Usually there in the mornings, but recently I’ve seen him there in the afternoons, too.
Los Osos Valley Road
CHP car is often giving tickets within the ~10 mile straightaway stretch between the neighboring towns of San Luis Obispo and Los Osos (between W. Foothill Rd and Turri Rd). Be especially careful at the brief passing lanes going in either direction. They’ll clock you while driving in the opposite direction as well; they won’t hesitate to do a fast u-turn and pull you over.
Los Osos Valley Road
City motorcycle cop waits with his radar gun and an other motorcycle cop. It’s just before Los Osos Valley Rd nerrows from 2 lanes to 1 lane, just past the junior high school. But past slow for school kids.
California Boulevard near Stafford Street
If your are heading north towards Cal Poly on California Boulevard, right behind the 7-Eleven is an alley where a motorcycle cop sits because he can get people going both ways. The speed limit is not unreasonable I believe it is 40 MPH. lots of pedestrian traffic in the area. Probably good that they are enforcing, Just a good reason not to speed.
They have also been know to park between the parked cars along california
