San Marcos, California Speed Traps

Watch the Discovery school speed limits. police sit on north side and plug radar during school hours. limit is 45 mph but 25 during school. The area is between Via Vera Cruz and San Marcos blvd.

Heading south, just past the fire station, cops like to sit on the small side streets as you head down the hill. Limit is 45, but most pick up speed in this area. I’ve watched many being ticketed here. They seem to pick this area periodically. They’ll be there every day for a couple weeks, then not at all for a couple months.

There is a speed trap in front of the Twin Oaks Valley Golf Course Entrance. They tend to laser oncoming traffic heading north on Twin Oaks Valley Road.

There is an elementary school on Knob Hill Road between Bennett and Nordahl. During the AM rush, there have been officers tracking and ticketing anyone driving over 25 mph. Knob Hill is a major thoroughfare and many motorists pick up speeds of at least 40mph.
