San Rafael, California Speed Traps
This is a favorite spot for cops to hide. Coming north there’s a point where Grand goes over a hump and merges with Villa. Cops hide in the trees on Villa by the old folks home.
SR Police giving people tickets all the time. They even target kids walking and biking home for revenue generating tickets.
Various hiding places along this divided road. 35 mph is strictly enforced. Because there is only one traffic light at the Loch Lomond Marina and no Stop signs, it is easy to forget and press down more on the accelerator. Don’t do it, no matter how clear the conditions seem. Officers hide at Montecito, Summit Drive, and Bayside Acres, as well as in front of larger parked vehicles with their radar.
Driving up Grand Ave, towards Domincan University.
Right before Belle Ave when you get over the hill there is a 4 way stop sign on Grand & Belle
The SR PoPo is waiting on your left side on Belle Ave behind the bushes!
They get a lot of people doing the california roll through the stop sign.
CHP is patrolling heavily on the approach to the bridge, the bridge itself, the transition from 580 to 101, and on 580 on the Richmond side of the bridge. If heading west on the bridge, be careful as you pass under the Sir Francis Drake overpass–CHP is likely to be hiding on the right shoulder, and will see you before you see him. Limit in both directions is 55, and they are enforcing with only a little bit of leeway.
Red light camera at Irwin Street and 3rd Street. Ticket costs $500.
