Santa Clara, California Speed Traps
Bowers Avenue North of Chromite
After the light at Chromite going North on Bowers Ave there is a Caltrain overpass. The road goes down there and typically cars speed up. On the other side of the overpass there is often a motorcycle cop hiding behind the bushes in the Keystone parking lot, especially during morning commute. Speed limit is 35 and it is easy to hit 45 or 50 mph as you pick up speed going under the overpass.
San Tomas Expy./Montague Expy. North of ramp from U.S. Hwy. 101
CHP motor waits on the right, just past the first 45-mph sign, for vehicles which haven’t slowed enough from freeway speed, during Non-commute periods (when there is no traffic to “follow”).
Stevens Creek Boulevard just north of Winchester
Speed limit is 35 on street that is 3 lanes in each direction, 6 lanes total with 40 mph limit less than 1 mile away. City of Santa Clara Officer(s) with Lidar park in alley between businesses and wait for northbound traffic. Has this street been surveyed in this area?
De La Cruz Blvd. past Costco going toward 101
Early morning (before 8:00AM) is the most dangerous time. Once you pass Reed Street (heading toward 101 with the airport on your right) watch out. Usually two motorcycles on the right before you reach Martin Avenue. The speed limit is 40MPH. Sometimes they are there regularly for weeks and then they don’t show for weeks. It’s off and on.
